Robotics + Art Pictured here is Karel Capek alongside of his creation of a robot. In the same way technology influences art , art influences technology as well. The question is how ? Many artists , whether it’d be singers, painters, or even movie writers have been known to throw out ideas through their art, that scientists feed off of and decide to bring to life. Shows like “Back to the Future”, where they first introduced the “Nike Air Mag 2015” shoe that had automatic laces, influenced Nike to eventually come out with that shoe collection, which they did in 2015.  In part 2 of Professor Vesna’s weekly lecture “Robotics + Art”, she gives us a well suited example for this. A theater play writer known as Karel Capek introduced “the robot” in his play “R.U.R” in 1921 for the purpose of labor. His play included a lot of realistic details about robots which pushed scientists to develop real robots, making it true that art, in fact, does influence technology. Pictured here is Karel

In lecture we were exposed to an interesting topic about “degenius”. Buckminster Fuller says,  ”Everyone is a genius but the process of living de-geniuses them.” I found this to be interesting because even as early as his time , he knew the education system was going to be a fail for humans , at least in America. This week’s topic was about math and art. Some math subjects, such as geometry, have always been dependent on art since the start of their existence. Math allows for art to be a lot more detail and realistic because it’s based of off numbers. From this week’s readings , I learned about origami and its uniqueness. Of course I had heard of origami before , but I had no idea how much it was related to math , geometry to be specific. Origami is a perfect representation of the relationship between math and art. Why ? Because origami is geometry based art. To be successful in creating an origami piece, we have to know that geometry , and symmetry will be used. Because of th

In 1959 , C.P. Snow gives a lecture that introduces the idea of two cultures. In “Lecture Part 1” Vesna explains that the original concept was about the two cultures between the rich and poor but then turned into art & science. The relationship between art & science has become relatively closer knitted.Art & science are becoming more and more dependent on each other than ever before. In my opinion, art is dependent on science because of technology.  Technology is science and a lot of artistic things created today, need a social media platform for marketing, which can only be possible through the usage of technology which is science based. Science depends on art for the idea of creativity. In the article “On creativity”,  Bohm says that scientists should be in creative mode when trying to innovate new technology. Art allows your mind to expand and develop creativeness which is essential to creating new technology. I relate to the relationship between two cultur
