Robotics + Art Pictured here is Karel Capek alongside of his creation of a robot. In the same way technology influences art , art influences technology as well. The question is how ? Many artists , whether it’d be singers, painters, or even movie writers have been known to throw out ideas through their art, that scientists feed off of and decide to bring to life. Shows like “Back to the Future”, where they first introduced the “Nike Air Mag 2015” shoe that had automatic laces, influenced Nike to eventually come out with that shoe collection, which they did in 2015. In part 2 of Professor Vesna’s weekly lecture “Robotics + Art”, she gives us a well suited example for this. A theater play writer known as Karel Capek introduced “the robot” in his play “R.U.R” in 1921 for the purpose of labor. His play included a lot of realistic details about robots which pushed scientists to develop real robots, making it true that art, in fact, does influence technology. Pictured here ...
